Perhaps some of you read about this and saw all the photos on our Facebook page?
Here, though, is the unabridged story Jeni's fan Amy Freeland sent us late last month:
"So, last night, on our fifth anniversary, I proposed to my girlfriend, Kate Harrison in your Short North location. We have lived in the Short North for four years, and visit Jeni's on a nearly weekly basis, so it seemed only perfect that I propose to her there.
"A few weeks ago, I went into the store and spoke with Erik and Reika about my plan and they were super sweet about it and so excited for me. I told them that if possible, I would like to write “Kate, will you marry me?” on a flavor card (my friend Emily Rush's idea) and have it inside the case so that when we came in, I could point to it and she would get the hint.
"I came in a week later to square it up with them, and Reika totally had the card written out, told me she wrote it in the communication book for the other employees, and that they were all excited and ready for us.
"With my heart in my throat, we walked down the street towards Jeni's. My friends Liv Gjestvang and Julie Applegate headed there a few minutes before us to take pictures, talk to the Jeni's staff, and to see where the proposal card would be.
"As we entered the store, everyone was so friendly and happy as usual, and Kate tasted several flavors, as usual. I, on the other hand, couldn't even see straight. I didn't try any flavors, which was not usual for me.
"As we walked down the case, I saw the sign. Kate was behind me, so as she walked closer, I pointed to it. Then she screamed, 'Shut up!!!,' which I knew she was going to do.
"Julie handed me the ring box, which I opened upside down (whoops), and Liv immediately started snapping pictures. The patrons clapped and cheered, and as I looked back at the Jeni's staff, they were all crowded around behind the case clapping and smiling too.
"It was a beautiful moment, thankfully captured by Liv. We will cherish the memories and the pictures from this event for the rest of our lives.
"Thank you to the wonderfully sweet and caring employees at your Short North location. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to create one of the 'sweetest' proposals in history.
"Unfortunately, we were too nervous and in shock to have any ice cream last night. Ha ha ha ha…go figure. Anyway, we will continue to go to our favorite place in Columbus for the rest of our years together.
"Kindest Regards -- Amy Freeland"
Have a great weekend!
