Early harvest is almost here, and the first fruits of the season are being washed, roasted and pureed in our kitchen. After a long winter, the first sign of spring is rhubarb. We absolutely cherish the tart, crimson stalks - and in spring, we use rhubarb in just about everything. Our mothers and grandmothers used rhubarb in endless spring pies, jams and tarts; we use it in ice creams.
As temperatures rise and the harvest picks up, join us as we revel in all that Ohio has to offer... with ice creams made from tiny, ripe strawberries, tart red cherries, handmade blueberry sauce and so much more.
This growing season, look for luscious ice creams flavored with these homegrown ingredients:
Early Harvest...rhubarb, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, peppermint.
Peak Harvest...cucumbers, honeydew, black raspberries, stone fruits like apricots, peaches, plums - depending on the abundance of the harvest, we hope to make butters with these stone fruits and preserve them for our holiday flavors this winter.
Late Harvest...apple cider, winter squash, root vegetables, watermelon, black walnuts.
This year, we are especially excited to introduce you to more of our talented farmers and friends - our fellow Ohioans. Throughout the harvest season, we'll be taking you on field trips to pick berries at Wayward Seed Farm, meet our dairy cows at Snowville Creamery, pick fresh mint at Jorgensen Farms and more.

Very cool. I have never used Rhubarb in any of my ice creams. I'll have to experiment since I don't have a Jenni's ice cream in California.

Same here with triplescoop. But I think that's a new recipe tip. I'll find a way to follow that and make my ice cream eating have more delights.

I never even considered rhubarb in ice cream. Perhaps as a complement to Strawberry... hmm.
