Above: One of the 5-gallon oak barrels containing Middle West Spirits' new offering, OYO ("o-WHY-o") whiskey. Brady Konya and Ryan Lang and their Middle West crew there in the Short North kindly allowed some of us here at Jeni's to sample the strong waters from that very barrel yesterday afternoon. (You'll notice the damp area near the tap.)
We said, "Bravo! We'll take it!" They said, "Thank you! But, not so fast!"
According to their taste buds, the OYO whiskey needs just a little more time to age in the oak.
All right. Fine.
But, when it is fully ready to go, Middle West's new single-cask, small-batch, sippin' whiskey (derived purely from Ohio wheat), will fuel Jeni's upcoming Bakeshop Collection delight, Corn Syrup Custard with Whiskey & Pecans. What's the ice cream taste like? Well, it tastes like something Grandma made if said grandma liked to live it up not a little, but a whole hell of a lot.
Look for Corn Syrup Custard with Whiskey & Pecans within the next few weeks and stay tuned!
Got a chance to tour the distillery the other day and was told about this beautiful marriage to be. Very excited about two local companies doing good things.

Delightful! I just made a batch of butterscotch pecan which we all fell head over heels for. No doubt this combo would be over the top!
